In Japanese, when one is invited with the phrase “Would you like to come with me?” and chooses to refuse, it is generally considered preferable, for the sake of smooth communication, to avoid a direct “no” and instead respond with an indirect expression such as, “I have something to attend to that day, so perhaps another time.”
