1. Kawanishi, YamagataKawanishi, Yamagata is a town located in Higashiokitama District, Yamagata, Japan. The literal meaning of Kawanishi is "west of the river", and the river refers to the Mogami River. As of November 2010, the town has an estimated population of 17,302 and a density of 104 persons per km². The total area is 166.46 km². The town is famous for the large dahlia garden called Kawanishi Dariyaen (Kawanishi Dahlia Park), which opens during the dahlia season (usually August to November).
