1. History of Tibet (1950–present)The History of Tibet from 1950 to the present was heralded by the People's Liberation Army entering Tibet in 1950-51. Before then, Central Tibet had unilaterally declared independence from the Qing Dynasty in 1913, after which the Dalai Lama continued to act as both the religious head of Tibetan’s Buddhist populace and as the political head of Tibet at that time. In 1959 the Dalai Lama fled Tibet to northern India where he established the Central Tibetan Administration.
