1. Kazunogawa Pumped Storage Power StationThe Kazunogawa Pumped Storage Power Station uses water from the Sagami River system to power an 800 MW pumped storage hydroelectric scheme. It is located 18 km (11 mi) east of Kōshū in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. Construction on the power station began in 1991 and the first generator was commissioned in 1999. The station is designed to have an installed capacity of 1,600 MW but only two of the four 400 MW generators are currently operational.
