1. Daichi SuzukiDaichi Suzuki is a retired Japanese backstroke swimmer. He won a gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Suzuki began swimming at the age of 7. In Junior High School, his coach identified his potential as a backstroker, but recommended that he swim all four strokes to develop a balanced physique. Thus, a long-term strategy to develop Suzuki was begun at a very early age. He placed third in the 400 m individual medley at the national Junior High School Championships in 1981.
