2. Beyond rightsBeyond rights is another name for the Fifth Freedom of air travel, as defined by the Convention on International Civil Aviation in 1944, otherwise known as the Chicago Convention. The Convention established the "building blocks" for international air transportation regulations, which are widely referred to as the "freedoms of the air," and are fundamental to the international route network we have today. There are a total of nine such freedoms.
