1. AngelosThe Angelos family, feminine form Angelina (Άγγελίνα), plural Angeloi (Ἄγγελοι), was a noble Byzantine lineage which gave rise to three Byzantine emperors from 1185 to 1204. From the 13th to the 15th century, a branch of the family ruled Epiros, Thessaly and Thessaloniki under the name of Angelos Komnenos Doukas. The family name Angelos is derived from angel (messenger).
