1. Tibetan resistance since 1950Tibetan resistance to Chinese domination did not begin with the Invasion of Tibet in 1950. The history of Tibet and the history of China have been interconnected throughout the centuries. The complexity of their relationship is the root of the contemporary dispute over Tibetan claims of sovereignty. Tibet has struggled to maintain a unique identity and some degree of political autonomy at least since the 5th century C.E. , not only vis-a-vis China, but other regional rivals and even Britain.
