Why wouldn't it be? Basically anything can be written in hiragana or katakana if you want.

Here is my question, with more details:
I saw that most of the time, onomatopoeic words are often written in katakana.
Is there a general rule about how to write repeated mora onomatopoeic words?
For instance, is "じめじめ" more often used than "ジメジメ"?

katakana spelling?
Hello, I've seen ジメジメ and I wonder if it's an alternative spelling?
