1. German reparations for World War IIAfter World War II, both West Germany and East Germany were obliged to pay war reparations to the Allied governments, according to the Potsdam Conference. Other Axis nations were obliged to pay war reparations according to the Paris Peace Treaties of 1947. Though these reparations exceeded aid from the Marshall Plan, West Germany managed to pay them, in the meantime developing a strong economy. East Germany had more harsh payment, but still managed to rise as an industrial power.
