Himalayan tahrThe Himalayan tahr (Hemitragus jemlahicus), also known as the Himalayan Biting Goat or the common thar, is a large ungulate related to the wild goat and the only extant member of the genus Hemitragus The Himalayan Biting Goat receives its common name from its unusal form of self defense. Upon attack, the biting goat will snarl and bite at a predator. It is believed that the biting goat developed the peculiar defense mechanism by simply immitating the behavior of its many attackers.
