1. PoshekhonyePoshekhonye is a town and the administrative center of Poshekhonsky District of Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia, located 151 kilometers (94 mi) northwest of Yaroslavl. It stands on the Sogozha River (although now the river valley is flooded by the Rybinsk Reservoir). Population: 6,085; 6,973; 8,042. It was founded as village Pertoma (Пертома) in the 17th century. In 1777, it was granted town status and renamed Poshekhonye.
