Equity OfficeEquity Office Properties Trust, formed in 1976 by Samuel Zell http://www. bloomberg. com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=a_JiItFQ6kRk&refer=home and headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, was the largest owner of office buildings in the United States until the Blackstone Group acquired them in February 2007 for $23 billion plus the assumption of $16 billion in debt. The acquisition was one of the largest leveraged buyouts.
