2. CerknicaCerknica is a town and municipality in the Karst region of southwestern Slovenia, with a population of 10,284 (2002 Census). It belongs to the traditional region of Inner Carniola. Its best-known landmark is Lake Cerknica, an intermittent lake, the largest lake in Slovenia, to the south of the town of Cerknica. Various watersports including windsurfing are popular on the lake.
