9. Hu (vessel)A hu is a type of pear-shaped ritual bronze wine vessel from ancient China. They would be placed in the grave of an ancestor as part of ritual banquet in order to ensure the good favor of that ancestor's spirit. They are usually large, with ring handles on the sides (either real or representational). During the Shang Dynasty one hu would typically be offered, decorated with relatively simple taotie designs.
