There is a story in Aesop’s fables about a greedy dog that suffers a loss. One day, a dog with a piece of meat in its mouth was crossing a bridge. Looking down at the river from the bridge, it saw another dog holding a piece of meat in the river. That meat appeared larger, so the dog wanted it and thought that if it scared the other dog, it could take the meat for itself, and barked at the dog in the river. However, at that moment, the meat in its mouth fell into the river. The dog in the river was just its own reflection. — Jreibun
