This is a discussion about 留める

Usually kana?

Is this word usually written with kana only? Based on what I'm seeing, and comparing it to 止める, it seems like that would make sense. However, Kanshudo.com's entry for the word says otherwise.

留める is usually used as とどめる. Hiragana? Not really, the kanji 留める is common. 留める as とめる?Possible, but we don't use it so very much.

But 止める as とめる or やめる is very often, as you know.
