This is a discussion about 茶色

Brown

Why is brown written with the same kanji as tea?

Why is the colour orange written the same way as the fruit orange?

I'm assuming it's because tea (which is typically brown) was such an important part of Japanese culture at the time that the kanji combination was assigned.
