I was too excited to try this forum, and asked my question too quickly! I just found the answer in the phrase accompanying the word, "赤ん坊の鳴き声が聞こえる". Pretty much sums it up!

おぎゃあ and オギャ― ツ
In the manga I am reading, I see the word, オギャ― ツ, written in Katakana, and am wondering if it is related to おぎゃあ cry (of baby); mewl (of kitten). Is it an Onomatopoeic or mimetic word, for the sound of a baby crying? Thank you for any assistance with this word!
