ーくれた

In the phrases 教えてくれた and 抱きしめてくれた the suffix くれた is present, however when searching jisho I found no meaning to the word, moreover when searching 教えてくれた and 抱きしめてくれた the search engine actually EXCLUDED くれた and instead "searched for (given word without くれた)" instead. I would like to know the meaning of くれた since I see it quite often in lyrics and manga. In a YouTube video I watched not long ago it was stated that 教えてくれた, as in "teach me," the くれた made the 教えて more personal, so it is less of "teach me," and therein becomes "teach ME." I know that sounded confusing, but that is the easiest way to put it.

It's the verb くれる, in the past tense. This is the entry for it.

Definition 3, the auxiliary verb usage, is the one you're looking at. It means that someone did the first verb for the benefit of the speaker.
