さ can replace the い of an い adjective to make a noun form of it. This noun form is used when talking about the degree to which something embodies that adjective.

おおきい big おおきさ "bigness" (or more naturally, size)

So すごい is no different
すごい awesome, great すごさ awesomeness, greatness
