研究 is けんきゅう (not けんきょう). This is more like academic research, like when you say "Scientists are studying the virus so they can make a vaccine." You wouldn't use 勉強 in that sentence, you'd use 研究.

the study is more like in the sentence, "there is a study that says that if you sleep early, it is good for your body"

The kanji for study is actually 勉強 （べんきょう）, this says けんきょう, I don't even think that's a word
