That sentence comes from Tatoeba, which compiles translations from various languages into various other languages. There's no way to know if the English is a translation of the Japanese, or if the Japanese is a translation of the English, or if they're both a translation of some other language's sentence.
So, sure, your translation of the Japanese sentence would be fine, but we don't know if that's what the person who wrote those sentences was trying to do.
