だけど

The translation here is "I want to talk to you about something". What does the のだけど mean? Does it mean however? "I want to talk to you about something, however....."

Are you sure about the sentence? or do you mean However,
a) implies that you are asking for help or money
b) you just state that you don´t have enough money to buy the book

a) I have something I want to talk about (so please listen to me )
b) I have something I want to talk about (fact)
