前期 - First- half year

I am applying to go to school in Japan. When my course has these characters in, which does it mean? Fall or Spring semester?

前期（ぜんき）- is meaning the first semester or term of the year, so if the school you are attend is only 2 semester (Fall/Spring) then it will meaning to the Spring semester since it is the (first/primary) semester.
