This is a discussion about 有る

Layout issues with [play audio]

Hi,

I'm new here but I've had a quick mail conversation with Kim. Just wanted to report some small layout issues I found while playing around on this page.

1) [play audio] is attached to 有る only, which is weird since 在る has the same pronunciation
2) Trying to click [play audio] you hover over 有る, which causes a new [play audio] link to appear, which pushes the [play audio] link that you were trying to click away from the cursor.

I would expect [play audio] to be shared between the variants. Also I think it would be good to keep the layout from jumping like this in general.

On an unrelated note, inflections is a neat feature available on regular verb pages, but I think it would be particularly useful to have for irregular verbs like this one.

Welcome :)

  1. The source data from WaniKani has audio connected to kana+kanji, so that's how I import it. I will need to, and plan to, do some editing of that data to make sure audio appear on all the appropriate kanji variations of words. It's on my todo list.

  2. You mean on the details page yeah? http://beta.jisho.org/word/51859af2d5dda7295400dbba

That's because the details page hasn't gotten much design love. But doing a major design overhaul of words is next up on my todo list. So this should be fixed soon.

  1. Yep, I will expand the inflections to cover more verbs.

Thanks for the feedback!

Oops, some odd formatting with the numbered list there :)

Nice! The design is already very good so I look forward to see how it can get even better.
