1. Hundred Years' War (1337–1360)The Edwardian War was the first phase of the Hundred Years' War, lasting from 1337 to 1360, from the outbreak of hostilities until the signing of the Treaty of Brétigny. This 23-year period was marked by the startling victories of Edward III of England and his son, the Black Prince, over the French at the Battles of Crécy and Poitiers. In the latter battle, John II of France was captured, and in the following years France came close to complete descent into anarchy and civil war.
