This is a discussion about 確かに

確かに is also a 表現

確かに can also be used as "I can confirm that". 手紙を確かに夕べ受け取りました。I can confirm I received your letter yesterday evening.

I guess: "I certainly received your letter yesterday evening" works just as well. Its use is just too different to anything in English. Sorry for spreading my confusion.

You can paraphrase "certain(ly)" also with "I am certain that", which then can be paraphrased further to "I can confirm that". It's just a matter of form/meaning.

Btw., what do you mean with 表現?
