Looking for clarification.

Can anyone possibly clarify the meaning of "けんきゅうせい" within the context of this please?

" サキュバスけんきゅうせい"

It's supposed to be a title, but "succubus research student" doesn't quite seem right
given that other examples of titles are "apprentice succubus" "rookie succubus" "legendary succubus" etc...

Would be easier with kanji and context about what you are reading. For all we know you are reading a manga about a research student who also happens to be a succubus.

Makes perfect sense, or not? You have different ranks/titles in this game, apparently. While 研究生 comes from academic environment, it‘s also used in popular culture in a much wider meaning, just a person who is still learning. Often also found in idol groups and theater groups. Just think of it as a kind of rank.
