The prayer of Evil Rao

Hello everybody,

in the video game Okami there's a scene in which the priestess Rao (who you just found out she's a fake and evil) folds her hands and seems to recite a prayer to transform herself. The interesting thing is, that this prayer wasn't translated in the other localisations of Okami but was just written in Romaji.

観自在菩薩 行深般若波羅蜜多時
照見五蘊皆空 度ー切苦厄…

Kan-ji-zai-bo-satsu Gyo-jin-han-nya-ha-ra-mi-ta-ji Sho-ken-go-on-kai-ku
Do-is-sai-ku-yaku...

Furthermore, in the Japanese version there is an additional line to that prayer that doesn't appear in the other localisations:

舎利子 色不異空 空不異色
色即是空 空即是色 受想行識 亦復如是

In the game, the text appears with Furigana. When I try to search for it here, I can't click the kanji because Jisho doesn't seem to know them in this order. Neither does Google translator. So I figured that this might be Chinese or is it just gibberish?

Thank you for your help!

I would assume it's a Buddhist sutra (お経). These are from ancient Chinese and just read with the onyomi. But whether or not this is a real sutra is something I can't really take a stab at without research. I'm on my phone at the moment.

Some quick googling indicates that this is from the 般若心経 (はんにゃしんぎょう), or what's commonly called the Heart Sutra in English.

Thank you very much! I'm sorry that I didn't think about googling the text.

If you're curious about the meaning, I found this pretty easy to understand :p
