This is a discussion about いらっしゃる

Kanji / word origin

Hello,
does anybody know the origin of this expression? Can it be written in Kanji?

いらっしゃる and its forms like いらっしゃい are basically never written with Kanji. But historically, it comes from いらせらる, which is a derivation of the verb いる【入る】.
