possibly wrong translation

I may not have much experience with the japanese language, but even with the bits and pieces I picked up watching anime and such, it seems quite clear that this sentence means something along the lines of "He put a toy into a box and gave it to me.", instead of "He raised his hand as if to command silence.".

Thanks for the tip! But while this is a usable workaround, it would be nice if it could be displayed correctly on jisho itself as well.

Aha... Yeah you're almost right.
I would say "He gave me the box that had a toy put in it"
Must have been a mix up.
