Wikipedia definition
1. Aya of Yop CityAya of Yop City is a graphic novel by Marguerite Abouet, published in 2008. It is about a girl and her extended family and friends who live in the Ivory Coast during the 1970s. It is one of the few works of postcolonial African fiction that focus almost entirely on the middle class. Although not entirely autobiography, the story is based on the author’s life in Ivory Coast. Aya of Yop City is the second of three books in the Abouet's Aya series, each based on the same characters.
