Guardian AwardThe Guardian Children's Fiction Prize or Guardian Award is a literary award that annually recognizes one fiction book, written for children by a British or Commonwealth author, published in the United Kingdom during the preceding year. It is sponsored by The Guardian newspaper, which inaugurated it in 1967. The winner is selected by a panel of authors and the review editor for paper's children's books section. It may be compared with the American Newbery Medal.
