1. AlepocephalidaeSlickheads or nakedheads are a family, Alepocephalidae, of marine smelts. They are deep-water fishes most common below 1,000 metres (3,300 ft). They get their name from the lack of scales on the head. Some authors include Bathylaconidae in this family.
