1. Chakufwa ChihanaChakufwa Chihana (23 April 1939 – 12 June 2006) was a Malawia human rights activist, pro-democracy advocate, trade unionist and later, politician. He served as the Second Vice President in Malawi. He is credited as the 'father of Malawian democracy' in Malawi. He was the leader of Malawi's first underground political movement that pressed dictator and President Kamuzu Banda to call for a referendum on political pluralism. He was the first person to also openly challenge Banda's rule.
