1. Shimotsuke, TochigiShimotsuke, Tochigi is a city in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. It was established on January 10, 2006, by the merger of the towns of Minamikawachi of Kawachi District and Kokubunji and Ishibashi, all from Shimotsuga District. As of May 1, 2011, the new city has an area of 74.58 km² and a population of 59,603, with 21,400 households.
