1. Bandō, IbarakiBandō, Ibaraki is a city located in Ibaraki, Japan. The city was formed on 22 March 2005 from the merger of the old city of Iwai and the town of Sashima, from Sashima District. As of February 1, 2012, the city has an estimated population of 56,015, with 18,000 households and a population density of 454.74 persons per km². The total area is 123.18 km². Current mayor is Eiichi Yoshihara, who elected by Bando mayor election on April 2009, and former Iwai mayor since April 1978 to April 1994.
