義理チョコ
1. obligation chocolate; chocolate given by women to male colleagues, etc. out of obligation on Valentine's daySee also 本命チョコ
2. Giri chocois chocolate given by women to men on Valentine's day in Japan. It is a relatively cheap type of chocolate women give to male co-workers, casual acquaintances, and others to whom they have no strong attachment. Giri choco is lower-quality than honmei choco (more expensive chocolates women give to their romantic partners). Men generally reciprocate by giving women cookies and other gifts on White Day, celebrated on March 14.
