2. MargarineMargarine is a generic term for vegetable fat spreads, typically composed of vegetable oils. While butter is derived from animal fats (typically milk fats), margarine is derived from plant oils and fats and skimmed milk. In some locales it is colloquially referred to as oleo, short for oleomargarine. Margarine can be used both for spreading or for baking and cooking.
