Maybe, but that's the job of a grammar, not a dictionary. Same reason that the entry on the で particle doesn't explain it's the connective form of だ (calling it a gerund seems weird to me, since it's not a verbal noun, ~の or ~のこと fits the meaning of "gerund" a lot more, but it's generally pointless trying to match up Japanese grammar to English grammar terms, better to just describe how the forms function in Japanese, like "connective form" )

It should be noted that して is the gerund form of する which is why it basically means "doing"
