Most adverbs that can be used with the particle と can also be used without it. That's pretty much all it is. Whenever と is possible with this kind of adverb, there is no difference in the core meaning whether it's used or not. There is a slight amount of emphasis added when using と, but I do think it's fairly slight. Using と is also slightly more formal than omitting it, though that doesn't mean that using it is very formal either. As such, you are probably slightly more likely to see と in writing than to hear it spoken, but it's not strange in either context.

分からない「と」
Why does this sentence has this particle ''と'' but others, with similar meaning and construction don't? For example、 this one:
「彼はその問題をあっさり解いた。
He solved the difficult problem easily.」
