Doesn't really make the current meanings wrong, but they're not really good English, probably someone translated a monolingual dictionary entry.

I've looked it up three different places and they all say the same thing. "To cook together" to "to boil well" . The only place that said "stew" (not"to stew or simmer"just "stew") was Google translate. And Google is probably at the bottom most of the list of places that I trust.
