The proper name for what's usually called a 'u-verb' is 'godan (五段) verb' and the 'ru-verb's are 'ichidan (一段) verbs'. So as you can see at the top of the definition, 帰る is a 'Godan verb with ru ending'. The 'ru' here refers only to how the verb actually ends so it's clear how it should be conjugated under godan verb rules.
