How to look up an English word that could be interpreted as Japanese?

This problem has popped up more than once while using jisho (and others Japanese-English dictionaries as well. I search for an English word, say "son", but jisho interprets it as 「そん」, due to sharing the same syllabary, and gives me definitions based on that. Is there a way to ensure that the English definition is searched instead?

Well, for one, when you type something like that you can see jisho suggest the alternative:

But you can force the search of an English word by surrounding it with quotation marks. So
"son"
instead of
son

Thank you. The quotation marks were just what I was looking for!
