TENGO

So i was reaing haruki murakamis 1q84 and straight away from opening the book i was hit by two kanjis 无吾 tengo
I have looked it up, trying to understand if i am supposed to read the two kanjis separately like maybe "i do not exist"? If anyone knows what tengo means it would be greatly appreciated. I am somewhat of a kanji beginner

It should be 天吾 according to Wikipedia (https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/1Q84), in which case it's a name comprised of 天 "sky/heaven" and 吾 "I, me, you, one, we" that the author invented. So there's not much to get about it other than the fact that it's a character's name.

i think this is the answer TENGO-AFTER THE STORE

If that was a word, it would be written as 店後 not 天吾
