This is a discussion about 彼女

How come this word uses both On and Kun readings?

彼女
かの for the 1st kanji, but じょ for the 2nd? I thought it would be the On reading for both.

I'm not sure that there's really an answer to this question other than that's just how it is. There are no hard and fast rules for determining whether a word will use the on or kun readings for the kanji.

Woah, welcome to the world of kanji, while they can use Kun-kun, on-on, a mixture of both, or even have special readings that don't even show up...
